FAQ:

Q: What is LucaLight?
A: LucaLight (patent pending) is an integrated shelf mounted light system for modular steel shelving.

Q: Will it fit my shelving system?
A: LucaLight fits most library shelving systems, including Estey, MJ, Spacesaver, Aetnastak, Biblomodel and others. LucaLight can be installed in new shelving systems or be retrofitted into existing systems by your shelving contractor.

Q: Does LucaLight need an electrician to install it?
A: No, LucaLight can be installed without an electrician, provided a 110 volt outlet is available for plugging in the power cord. Typically the outlets are positioned along exterior walls and in the bases of the shelving systems.

Q: Will LucaLight meet the current electrical code?
A: LucaLight is made up of components that meet current UL specifications and are registered by an NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory).

Q: Is LucaLight hard to install?
A: No, your shelving contractor will have no trouble installing LucaLight.

Q: How does it work?
A: LucaLight consists of a thin aluminum housing that typically mounts at the leading edge of a shelf. After the housing is installed, up to ten light fixtures are installed and can be linked together on a single plug. Wires are managed inside the housing and down the shelving structure to a 110 volt outlet.

Q: Do I need to light every shelf?
A: Lighting needs will vary based on shelving configuration as well as available ambient light. Reference shelving can have lighting on every other shelf. Magazine boxes need light at every box while angled video shelving can use one fixture for the entire bay.

Q: What does it cost?
A: LucaLight costs about $100 per shelf with hardware and cabling, (delivery and installation are extra)

Q: I already have Unistrut lighting above the aisle. Do I still need LucaLight?
A: Many libraries are following a retail trend and opting for a less institutional look. Out dated, obtrusive overhead lighting such as Unistrut is coming out and making way for crisp retail lighting such as LucaLight.
